- A thriller usually consists of a fight/battle between the protagonist and the antagonist, when there is a disturbance of peace (usually caused by the antagonist). The story shows a chain of events where the aim of the protagonist is to restore the peace whilst the antagonist tries to destroy it.
Conventions of a Thriller
- Tension
- Suspense
- Fear
- Action/Battle between the protagonist and antagonist
- Usually a male protagonist
- Quick cuts (as well as a change of angle shots) and sometimes black and white shots
- Suspenseful diegetic sound to build tension and increase the fear
- Low key lighting and shadows
